About Faya Kacos-Shiu
Faya Shiu, LCSW, graduated from Dominican University in 2014 with her Master’s in Social Work. Her approach to therapy is that of kindness, compassion, and a sense of humor. She specializes in working with adolescents and adults who have suffered from Chronic Mental Illness, Domestic Violence, Physical and Sexual Abuse, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Bipolar Disorder.
Over the years she has trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. However, she considers her approach to be more interactive by meeting each client where they currently are emotionally and use the best practice for each client individually.
In her spare time, she is a wife, mom, “bonus” mom, coach, and cheerleader (sometimes all in one day). She believes that anything can be learned from baseball and a really good laugh. She is looking forward to getting to know each client and assisting in helping them face and overcome the challenges they face. She enthusiastically believes “WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER!”
